“Do not be afraid of taking risks or making mistakes; but, in being defeated by them.” Daisaku Ikeda
The last two blog posts have discussed taking appropriate responsibility for what happens in our lives. I hope you have learned that there are some things that we take part in creating and other things we do not. Sometimes we are hyperaware of the level of responsibility present in a situation which makes us timid or slow to act.
Thinking can be helpful in deciding which risks to take; but, if we think too much we do not make any moves. It is also possible to want to be assured that what we are doing cannot lead to any negative consequences causing us not to act once again. There are no sure things. Despite our best efforts sometimes things go wrong.
Trying, which is doing our best no matter what, can lead to mistakes. This does not mean we are less than or inferior. It means we still have room to grow. I am not the best at remembering this myself but I do encourage you to investigate errors made with the goal of learning from them and moving on differently.
JOURNAL PROMPTS
1. How do you approach mistakes?
2. How does this affect your life? Are you okay with this?
GUIDANCE
Balance is the name of the game. It is possible to act recklessly by thinking that I can just learn from it. A level of thought should be had with all decisions; but, it is not healthy to become so involved in thought that you miss the chance to live.
